Welcome to Armband Coaching

Alan White, youth ministry coach

My name is Alan White, and I have been in professional ministry for the past 25 years. I've had the joy of serving in a variety of contexts including being an assistant to a youth pastor in a small rural church, leading a multi-staff youth ministry of 200+ students, being the Family Pastor with a team of 10 Next Gen staff, to my current role leading the ministry team at Camp Lighthouse (www.camplighthouse.org). While each setting has been different, there are certain culture building techniques and systems based solutions that apply to every ministry setting. I believe that every ministry is different, so my approach is process and value driven instead of programatic or formulaic. I have a passion for helping ministry leaders build healthy, vibrant, and sustainable ministries through coaching and mentoring. I was blessed to have some incredible mentors and coaches along my own ministry journey, and still do, and I desire to do the same for the next generation of youth leaders.

Mission

Armband Coaching is dedicated to developing the soul care, systems, and skills needed for youth ministry leaders to build sustainable and healthy ministries and to equip leaders to stay in ministry for the long haul.

Why Armband?

In soccer (or football if you’re a real fan), captains traditionally wear an armband to denote their role on the team. The coach can’t go on the field but the captains can, making them the catalyst for the success of the team. Therefore, my approach is to focus on the development of the “Captains” as they lead the team in ministry.

Armband Coaching Options

Individual Coaching |  This option is for youth ministry leaders to coach them through building their own healthy, vibrant, and sustainable ministry based on the vision God has given them for the ministry. Each contract begins with the Discovery Session and continues with 60 minute coaching sessions that can be booked in 6, 12, and 18 session packages. Each contract also includes the same number of WAT Calls (What About This) which are 15 minute pop-up phone calls to use at your descretion when a specific issue pops up between sessions.​

Team Training & Planning | ​This option is for youth ministry teams to either facilitate training sessions for their leaders or to facilitate longterm planning sessions for the ministry. This is perfect for bringing in a new voice to speak into the lives of your volunteers or to help you and your team map out the next 12 months of ministry together in terms of calendars, content, program plans, volunteer needs, and communication plans.  These sessions are a one day events for your team and can be anywhere from 90 minutes to several hours.

Interim Ministry Direction | ​This option is for churches who are between youth ministry leaders and designed to provide leadership to your adult volunteer team through planning, training, communication, and coordination of adult volunteer leaders and student leaders. This contract begins with a Discovery Session about the state of your ministry and a planning meeting to build a 12 month ministry plan. After that, I will meet bi-monthly with your volunteer leadership team to coordinate roles, programs, and event plans to create consistency between youth ministry staff.
